Final thoughts on my new PC

The PC will be used for a fair amount of heavy 3D model rendering, plus gaming such as BF4

 

At the moment I've decided this, just before I purchase it wanted to know any final suggestions

I think I've stated everything here. Any advice is welcome! Also, how future proof is this PC? I don't want to have to be upgrading in 12 months haha

 

EDIT: 1 more thing, I'm going for a blue and purple theme, hopefully most of the red on the mobo will be somewhat hidden?

You will be good with this PC for quite a while, that is my estimation.

 

EDIT: No GPU watercooling though? Or aren't the waterblocks out yet?

Im not 100% sure if the block for the 780ti is out yet or not, but for starters im at the top of my budget as is so will wait till end of january in which i plan to watercool the GPU and possibly get another radiator

considering the price of the 780ti, he is probably referring to the hydro-copper 780ti.

Have you thought about getting a 3820K 4820K and a P9X79-Pro motherboard instead? While the 3820K does not offer significant performance over the 4770K, it does put on the LGA2011 platform, which means you could upgrade to a 4930K in the future, which will be significantly better at 3D modelling.

However, the work you're doing can be GPU accelerated, ignore this post.

Have you thought about getting a 3820K and a X79 motherboard instead? While the 3820K does not offer significant performance over the 4770K, it does put on the LGA2011 platform, which means you could upgrade to a 4930K in the future, which will be significantly better at 3D modelling.

However, the work you're doing can be GPU accelerated, ignore this post.

I did consider going a 2011 socket however it seemed a fair bit more expensive, would I see a big performance improvement? Enough to justify the extra cost?

A 4820K+P9X79-Pro is about 30$ than a 4770K+Maximus VI Hero (Australian prices), and it matches your blue/purple theme. But no, there is minimal or no performance improvement at stock speeds. The 4820K is more likely to be more overclockable (since the die is soldered to the heat spreader) and it has more L3 cache, so I'd say it is worth it, especially since you are watercooling it.

 

It also means you could upgrade to a 4930K (which I know is a lot more expensive), but it is an option that you will have open.

I don't know about average, but I've seen 4.7GHz stable with a H100i with temperature difference over ambient under 60°C (it was some dude on some forum, I'll link it if I can find it), which is pretty rare for a 4770K.

If you're more comfortable with a 4770K, go ahead with it. On no planet is it a bad choice, but a 4820K might just have a slight edge over it.

To give an idea at the moment I'm rendering a 7 second clip of an office building I designed and the render has about 26 hours remaining, so small performance boosts could prove to be fairly beneficial

Definitely. The 4.3GHz 4770K will be slower than the 4.7GHz 4820K.

I really can't decide haha, both have features and downfalls that I feel affect me, and at almost identical pricing it's hard to choose :(

Programs like maya would perform better with the 8350 as it is highly optimized for the software with the mutli-threaded performance. 

For workstation features and professional work, you should look into getting a quadro as it will likely handle 3d view ports better in solidworks, maya, etc.

 

The 780 would be fine for cuda but you should really get the 8350/crosshair v and oc it instead.

It depends on exactly what you plan on doing with your displays.  If you are gaming at 1 1080p monitor, you are good fro probably 5-10 years!.  If you are at 1400p or 1600p, I would say you will be good for 2-3 years.  If you are pushing 4K or 3x 1080p you may need to upgrade to the next flagship or risk some performance loss.  If you are greater than 3x 1080p or 4K, 1 780ti will not cut it.

I have 2 1080p monitors at the moment. Don't plan to go 3 in the near future, plus I only game on 1 monitor. My room isn't big enough to have 3 monitors that are functional

I have tried to do so however the programs I currently use are fairly amature programs I believe so not a lot of info on them

Ah well, both platforms have their upsides and downsides. Just make a decision and hope the CPU you get overclocks well! :)
