i7 7700k inconsistent temps ranging on the hot side at stock

Two days ago I ran an IBT stress test and got 95-100c on i7 7700k stock with h100i cooling it. Today I ran the same test without changing anything and got 81c steady. I rebooted, ran again, and got back up ~92-95c stock. Redid thermal paste, still ~92-95c. A friend of mine is running the same cpu on air and gets 84c with a 4.8 OC.

Thought it could be voltages, so I manually set them to 1.200 in my asus z270-ar bios. Ran tests again, voltages still high at 1.34v. Tested pretty much every LLC level and it didn't change much.

What I've done as far as troubleshooting:

-redone thermal paste -tried fans in different orientations -attempted to manually set voltages, they still spiked -tried different LLC settings -dusted radiator as best as I could -multiple burn tests and multiple temperature monitoring software

Intel says not to OC the i7 but you could have the worst luck in the silicon lottery

That defiantly hot, but Kabylake was Thermal issues (So much so that Intel recommends users not to OC).

May sound stupid but IIRC corsair's utility program can see if you pump is working.

Make sure you have the pump plugged into the CPU fan plug or water pump plug on the board.

Like anything, stuff eventually fails.

Are your temps getting high like that at startup and with little to no usage? or is it after heavy stress testing?

If it's at start up the pump could have died, if its after testing, you could probably benefit from adding additional intake fans on your case, and even going push pull on your h100.

I'm running an H100 on my 6700k at 4.6 and having spikes into the low 60's after hours of gaming. But my H100 is front mounted with push pull. So it's getting the coolest air it can.

Try your H80 and see. It can't hurt to try it out and see if its something related to the H100.

mine looks like that but with a 120mm exhaust on left side, and only the visible fans on ur rad (not the ones tucked away on the right side)

starup/idle temps are 19/25

I cant run a rear exhaust, top rad wont let me.

Front is push pull. The push fans are hidden between the front panel.

Hows it under a gaming load? Stress testing hits the system hardcore, gaming isnt as hard of a hit
