why a 1000 watt psu?

Going for near silence, didn't want the fan on all the time, and it truly was a killer price on it. Bought it before truly thinking about whether I'd need all that power.

This would be better for a first time builder. the corsair case has glass on both sides so cable management is hard. I can assure you that almost everyone sucks at cable management on the first time

I assume you have a display, peripherals, and a Windows license already, yes?

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Yes, but I'm a perfectionist so that's true either way. I've taken my system down and rebuilt it about 20 times, so I do have experience building Pcs. Also have taken classes at school in IT having to do with computer hardware where we do similar things.

I'd highly encourage you to try a Ryzen 5 1600 if you're not using a monitor with 120hz+ refresh rate

If you're gaming on the 144Hz, then you might want to consider a 7700K

but if going for a 7700K requires you to drop down your GPU to something less than a GTX 1070, then the 1600 is still a better CPU.

EDIT: Yeah, I just saw your budget. you should go with a 7700K

Looks great, why the X62 over the H100i? And any recommendations for monitors in there? I need at least the 1080 144Hz (possibly with G-Sync) and the 4K is optional.

X62 is a 280mm rad, so it's bigger. and also, it has MOAR RGB

Ah, can't argue with you there. I see that you have the 460x case, how is it?

TBH the 460X is pretty meh.

it looks great, but two main things disappointed me:

firstoff, the included RGB fans are not software controllable at all, and the included controller is as barebones at it gets. 7 solid colors, and this strange flashing mode that should probably come with an epilepsy warning. no smooth fade between all the colors on the included controller. ideally, these would be software controllable. this also applies to the 570X if you get the RGB version, however the HD RGB fans corsair sells ARE software controllable via their Lighting Node Pro.

The second disappointment is the building experience. I specifically purchased the one with no back glass side panel so I could cram my cables there, but the back side cable management turned out to be orders of magnitude harder than the front side. -- there's almost no space over there!

My RM750X's 24-pin cable is legitimately the exact same thickness as there is space available on the back of the motherboard tray in some places, and too thick in others. I have to ziptie my 24-pin every 2-3 inches to cram down the diameter so it fits, and even still, with 6+ hours of cable managing where literally nobody sees, I still have a slightly raised portion of my sidepanel. this issue doesn't apply to you though, since the 570X has space to route more cables behind the tray, and I'd also assume it has more space.
