Dark Rock 3 is solid choice. Though, if you want RGB-cool or something bit different, that isn't best one. Answer to WoodenMarker's questions so we can check what are your options.

My specs are an intel core I7 6 cores, and a MSI Enthuastic Gaming Intel Z170A LGA 1151 DDR4 USB 3.1 ATX Motherboard (Z170A Gaming M5).  My budget for my sunk is about $40

As far as I know, there aren't any 6 core i7's for that socket. Make sure and tell us your cpu model.

This...and if you have any colour preferences.

 

The LGA 1150 platform only has (hyper-threaded) quad-core CPUs.

6 / 8/ 12 Cores is only on LGA 2011 (-3) ...as in X79, X99, etc.

i find it weird no one has said anything about the heat sink spelling

Probably because its heatsink, not heat sink. And everyone fears they get it wrong.

 

As for topic, $40 USD means you might loose bit in performance if you want weird cooler. Other than that, I would still suggest DR3.
