Will placing monitor stand on top of mousepad cause any damage?

As you can see in the picture, my mouse pad is so big that I have had to place it under the stand of one of my monitors, will this cause any damage to the mouse pad? 

 

I have 3 monitors so desk space is limited and I'm not a fan of triple monitor stands.

it would largely depend on what the mousepad is made of, how large your monitor is, and how the base is shaped/what its made of.... but I would say long term it is likely to leave a crease in your mousepad. your pad seems to be made of some sort of cloth, why not just lay the pad on top of the monitor base rather than underneath it? it would look a little less clean, but would remove any possibility of damage.

I would think that over time the monitor stand will definitely leave an impression on it

I don't think it would ever crack , but it will certainly leave a dent / imprint in it over time.

I just use individual monitor arms for my 3 monitors, those triple and double stands never sat well with me, as they weren't affordable or couldn't handle 30" monitors.
