Been Doing Intel & AMD Builds for years, Tired of Intel Prices Need Help Deciding Between Builds

Hello LTT community its been forever since I made a post on here, and today I bring you 2 possible AMD RYZEN 5 builds that have been hovering on my PCPartPicker parts list for months. Tired of Intel Pricing and the X99 Architecture though aging, it's still overly expensive. Almost got Kabylake, but I'm glad I waited for RYZEN which is slowly getting better and better especially since BIOSs have been updating and such. Need your thoughts on both as well as suggestions and If I should change parts on either. And lastly, help me decide which build to go with. Mainly using for gaming, some vid editing and a wee bit of content creation.

See PCPP Links below and help me out!!

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/N4GjQV - White/Blue Theme RYZEN 5 1600

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/29Yhr7 - Black/Turquoise/White accents Theme RYZEN 5 1600X

(I really like this unique theme since White and Blue has been done frequently and this is different)

Thanks in advance and enjoy!!! smile.gifthumb.gifbiggrin.gif

Well I think with some fans out you could squish a 1700. Thats the chip competing with X99.

I almost pull trigger on that but 2 reasons why I didn't

1. Didn't feel like spending over 300 for a CPU reason decided against Intel this time around and thought it was overkill for what I was doing

2.Many test show that an OCed 1600X performs roughly the same as the 1700 and 1700X 8 cores easily

Then why are you spending $200 on fans?

You're clearly a guy that spends a lot on aesthetics of a build, which is fine, but then my answer is: you decide. I can't tell you what you think will look better.

If you make a post contradicting mine that doesn't directly address my claims, or cites 'facts' without evidence, I'm probably not going to bother responding to it, because you probably didn't bother reading my post properly, and because life is too short. It doesn't mean I don't have an answer for you. It means I'm not dignifying you with a response.

that's all i'm gonna add to this.

In regards to the 1600X build and all the fans, look at the case choice and you will see why I did it, case has 4 120s in the front, and 1 in the rear of case plus the 2 I am getting for radiator and the one at bottom for bottom intake. Was going to get riing but they were just as expensive as the NZXTs.  Lastly let me know which other RGB fan can do the "Turquoise" color better than the NZXT AERs and is cheaper than 20 dollars. the corsair is most expensive out of "all" the RGB choices, think they are like 40 bucks a pop.  I know all those fans are crazy but I had no other choices for this complicated Black/Turquoise/White theme =)

your other choice is to not spend so much money on fans you have to pick a lower end cpu (plenty of headroom to pick higher in the ryzen lineup), for little to no cooling benefit past a certain point.

my rig has 3 fans, wich all spin at minimum speed, and they gladly pump out the 300 watts max load, at minimum speed. and they're *only* some 140mm white fractal fans that are like.. $20 each? (of which 2 included in my R5)

BUT MORE THREADS

Just 2 more threads...I dont need an 8-core if a 6-core OCed close to identical performance plus the extra 80 bucks I save for not going with 8-core can go towards my GPU and only time u will see diff is in rendering. plus its 80 bucks more trying to keep build as close to 2200 and under as possible.  Also note I will not be buying parts all at once.

your rig has 3 fans, If I see a case that can hold lets say 2 140s in front, Im not not going to just put one, more airflow means better cooling, plus some extra Decibels in noise throughout case. Also the more positive levels of flow i have in case the better cooling potential, my case choice will have 2 intake areas (Front & Bottom) and 2 exhaust areas Rear & top of case where Rad will be) which creates balanced airflow

honestly you can never have too much airflow in my opinion, especially if it is positive. you saw the CASE, I am replacing the default fans that it comes with with four of the NZXT ones for the front an the last NZXT for rear exhaust.

For the remaining 3 white ones,  2 go on the 240 mm radiator and the last one goes on the bottom for intake.

I see your angle with airflow but I just can't leave empty slots where fans supposed to go, empty unless they're less than 120mm. call it OCD if you want

I was incorrect.

4 threads.

But I be right back. To make a list cheaper.

Its a dual chamber case so here's info on fans.  It only takes 120s and a single 92mm

4 120mm in front total (2 per chamber)

1 120mm in back

1 92mm in back in 2nd chamber

1 120mm on bottom
