I don't have a GPU right now and I'm looking to buy relatively futureproof GPU for 1080p.

I'd like to play The Witcher 3, Project Cars (2), Fallout 4 and some future games like Kingdom Come Deliverance, Cyberpunk 2077 etc. In my mind that games won't be significantly more demanding than current AAA games

Intel i5-4460,Sapphire Nitro R9 390 8GB, 8GB RAM @ 1866Mhz, 120GB SSD + 1,5TB HDD, Asrock H81M-HDS, Fortron hyper 600w

1060 is good for that now bu for more 'futureproofing' maybe a 1070 would be better

@silvrbckgorilla

long long term

1070

long to mid term

RX 580

(580 > 1060 in the majority of modern titles)

The final factor to consider is that AMD are known for aging well with long lasting driver support, whereas Nvidia have a bad reputation of dropping the previous architecture like a stone once they release a new one.

What's your budget? If you want something relatively inexpensive while still future proof get a 580/480. If you have a bit more money to spend, get a 1070

As everyone is saying just go RX580, or even RX480 (you can find lots of cheap ones right now) they're relitively cheap, and if you need mor power, just buy another later on. This would be the cheaper route.

If you wanted to spend a bit more, personally I'd go grab a GTX 970, not a GTX 1070, you can save a little bit of money for relitively the same performance. This is especially true if you live by a MicroCenter and can grab an open box or refurbished one for ridiculously cheap. The only real downside of a 970 vs. a 1070 is less VRAM, buit when you're gaming at 1080p it really isn't an issue. I've had my gigabyte G1 970 since launch and it can handle just about anything.

GTX 1070

My overclocked GTX 1060 6GB wasn't fast enough for most demanding games so I upgraded to a 1070. I still can't max out some games and I play on a 1080p 60Hz monitor.
