I am in the market for a good reliable mechanical keyboard that is easy to keep clean (I like the idea of the keys protruding from the base so can easily clean under the keys) - a metal design would be a nice touch

I am looking for something like MX browns while keeping the price at a reasonable level it also needs to include a number pad, I don't use any macro keys so a standard UK layout is ideal

So whats available in this criteria - cheaper the better unless it compromises on quality.

P.S. I dont much care for RGB stuff, while if its included thats fine, preferably an option to turn off if I wanted to if it is

You specifically spec out the k70 btw the aluminum catches small fiber things so its actually pretty hard to clean.

Checkout the quickfire or cm master keys lineup, idk if the quickfire had iso layout in stock.

There isnt really a budget - if I need to save to get something of better quality then thats fine - but nothing ridiculous like the razer keyboard I saw some years ago for £200+ (Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ Gaming Keyboard)

Take a look at the ducky zero looks perfect for your needs

Get a k70 rgb or red led.  They go pretty cheap manufacturer refurbished  or on sale (under £80) and I love mine with brown switches.  Its super easy to turn off the leds as well

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

I agree with @Aytex the K70 is probably the way to go. They are very nice keyboards. The have RGB, White, and Red lighting keyboards. All of which can be managed with the nice software. I'm pretty sure that it has USB passthrough, if you're into that sort of thing...lol

  • 2 weeks later...

I would like to say thanks for all your comments, I have held of for a little while to see if I could get the k70 mx red a bit cheaper (also that theres no rush for me to get one atm) but just had my mouse start to die and looking into it again.

Just found Razer BlackWidow Chroma for less than £90 though https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00OBPTZ6U/ref=sxbs_sr_ss_b_1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_p=1302047307&pd_rd_wg=6fbsg&pf_rd_r=DZR148DHNM4JTPB4G5BS&pf_rd_s=desktop-sx-bottom-slot&pf_rd_t=301&pd_rd_i=B00OBPTZ6U&pd_rd_w=2manN&pf_rd_i=corsair%2Bk70&pd_rd_r=BV81F4GCTGMG5PJ70BV0&ie=UTF8&qid=1495226652&sr=1&th=1

what are the razer greens like vs mx switches and what is razer construction like, I have had several mice from them, while they are great they have faild twice now within warrenty

its not that its too expensive, it was the justification to spend so much as up till now I have had cheap £20 and the only reason I have got a new one was to go from PS/2 to usb, never had a failure.

with that said its a pain to clean and does look like a £20 keyboard - from everything I read, the k70 comes highly recommended - so just took the plunge and got one!

thanks to all for your advise, was put to good use!
