Hello all!

I just tried to reinstall Windows on my GS43VR and something odd happened. I deleted all the partitions until just the SSD and HDD were left. I hit "Next" and after it "prepared the files" it brought me back to the beginning again. What did I do wrong?

Sorry, I'm more tired than normal so I'm making stupid mistakes.

Thanks!

If you reached the stage where it prepares the files you must have created the new partitions on the boot drive. How did it goes? Any issues?

All the ones that were there before are still there.

You mean the partitions prior to trying to reinstall windows? You have to re-format the drive before you install windows with newly created partitions.

I deleted all the old partitions, didn't give me the option to format. I guess Windows just went "Nope something is wrong" and went back to what it was before

You can format existing partitions but the format is quick which means it doesn't actually erase the previous data. If you erase all the partitions. Click "New" it should create the necessary partition(s). Alternatively you can use CMD which will give you the option of Full Format instead of Quick Format. After the partition(s) is made select it as the primary and hit next it should install the OS.

I was able to fix it. So, turns out you don't delete all the partitions, Windows does it all for you now. For some reason, removing the thumb drive made it work. So that was weird. Working fine now!

You're right you don't have to but when doing a Custom Install you'd delete the old partitions, create new ones, format them and then do the installation.

Removing the thumb drive prevents the computer from booting to it when the system restarts. It can occur depending on how your BIOS is configured after an installation is already done.
