Dying light not smooth despite 60 fps

adroit14

I have a 60hz monitor, and a GTX 1060 6gb. Vsync is turned on, so i can rule out screen tearing. For some reason, Dying light looks like its stuttering, but im getting 60+ fps. Whats causing this? I remember vaugley hearing about something like this, but i dont remember why i saw it.

turn off vsync, see if it has less stuttering

i personally see >60fps to be smoother than 60fps on 60hz, and i cant see screen tearing at all, so win win :P

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

Over 60 fps on a 60hz screen is not smoother ? IT creates screen tearing A LOT and you might not see it because your "blind" (sorry) but it is there and very easy to see, very noticeable.

By going over 60 fps on a 60 hz monitor, you get less input lag. So thats true, thats a fact. But that has nothin to do with gameplay smoothness

I personnally feel that the input lag of Vsync is only noticeable in CS:GO. Other games, never felt a difference. I really hate the screen tearing effect it is horrible so I always use Vsync. Best is to have a gsync monitor tho :)

it depends A LOT between games, some dont tear up at all, while others are just tearing simulator 2017 instantly, as for smoothness.. source engine is a very good example of a game that gets smoother with double/triple buffering.

it's a tiny bit smother for me
i dont see screen tearing at all  (and i am 1/4th there to being legally blind)

i aim for ~70fps in any game, probably ~150+ in minecraft and ~280+ in CS

having 60fps vs 70fps is a tiny bit more smoother for me in GTA, WD2 and WD. wouldn't mind sacrificing a tiny tiny bit of quality for it

Well, I played 1000000000 games, (lol) and never found 1 game that doesn't screen tearing. It's just normal that it happens, it will always happen when ur FPS goes over ur monitor refresh rate unless you have Gsync or Freesync.

it's less "input lag" that makes it "smoother" and its true. It's just so small, input lag is like very very minimal and you can feel it in some shooting games for sure, i personnally don't feel it in other games than cs go

i dont care if its less input lag or more smooth, as long as i can feel it be better in games then its better for me.

now go cry over me using high instead of very high texture details.

there's some examples where i fail to spot tearing, even when actively looking for it.

I have friends that says they never see screen tearing but when i come to their home i see screen tearing so obvious that it makes me think twice when someone says he has no screen tearing without vsync and 1000 fps xD:)

placebo or not, i feel it and if its preferable for me over something that isn't as smooth (for me) then ill do it

im not going lowest everything 800x600 stretched to get more fps for it to be 'smoother'

im just lowering like 1 setting from very high to high to get 10 more fps, thats it.

just because you see it doesn't mean that they can see it

its like you're telling someone with apple headphones that they suck, but all they've used is apple headphones

you cant show them because.. they refuse to listen

even if they use a high end set of speakers or headphones, they'll still consider the apple headphones to be 'good enough'

im lowering it for 10 more fps because i feel the difference.

(also if it matters im using 4k 60hz)

Ah ok,

Can I ask, so you have Vsync off ? And you like to reach 70 fps in general in games with ur 60 hz 4k monitor ? is that correct ?

Edit : Nvm just saw in ur post earlier.

Well, I guess its an opinion. I do prefer having Vsync ON cuz I hate screen tearing and I can see it all the time goddamn me xD

My plan is to get a Gsync 1440p 144hz monitor soon to solve all that
