There is no "best socket type" as of right now. It's all up to what parts you have that fit it and personal preference.

A 6700k requires socket LGA1151, and a 6700k is better. LGA 2011v3 is for the enthusiast platform (5820k, 5930k, 5960x, 6800k, 6850k, 6900k, 6950x).
