Im planning on building a new PC but I am stuck on choosing between an Intel CPU or a Ryzen CPU. I know that gaming performance on the Ryzen Chips are not as good as the Intel Chips but apparently, current games are not optimized for the Ryzen Chips which makes me think that I should a Ryzen CPU as performance will increase overtime.

Get a 7700K then, it is better in games.

What is your plan? Pure gaming? Then go 7700 / 7700k, no questions asked.

If you're doing somehting else, though, then Ryzen might be worth some more consideration...

Yeah it pretty much gaming based with a few bits of photoshop here and there. Is a 7700/7700k really needed?

The 7700K is much better for photoshop because of its single core performance ;)

Neither are "needed", but if you're getting a 1070/1080, a 7700 (non k) would be a good fit. The k one is a bit of a luxury; get it if you can, it's a nice CPU to have. Otherwise, a 7700 is already good enough to get you by.

im not to bothered about the performance on photoshop as even with my 4690k, I dont see any problems so I would just go with the 7700k just to save money

Yeah, I think I would just go with the non k as I doubt I would need to do any overclocking with it

I think it is better to get a Ryzen 5 and a 1080 over a 7700k and a 1070 (should be about the same cost give or take) I dont get this 7700k trend lately, just spend more on the GPU and save on the CPU.

7700k is only useful if you are doing 144hz gaming or already getting a 1080ti.

Ryzen has the better lows, which is just as important if not more important that average FPS, plus an R5 would allow you to do more multi-core heavy things in the future if you wish to do so.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

Well, a lot of games can already use 8 cores and such, they just don't have them optimized that well. Until they have you can enjoy multitasking without worrying about having enough cores for it to not impact your game. Though I do recommend going 1440p or 4k with ryzen

I've just remembered aswell that I am going to wait until vega is released to see if they compete with the 1070 or 80
