Thinking of budget upgrade on video card, does the GTX 1050 TI seem good?

InuYasha86000

Watching the latest LTT video about Windows 10 gamemode and the 3 different video cards he showed, the GTX 1050 TI being the budget card, now my funding is really tight even for these cards but if it seems worth it i'll see what I can do about grabbing one: http://www.ncix.com/detail/gigabyte-gtx-1050-ti-4gb-44-137011.htm?promoid=1501

i'm currently running a gigabyte Geforce GTX 650 1G gddr5 memory, obviously the 1050 ti is an improvement on that, I just gotta find out if it's worth it.

I would save money and buy the rx 580 which will be relevant for a good while giving very good performance for its cost... Keep in mind that it wouldn't be worth upgrading the GPU if you'll keep using an outdated bad display.

RX 570 is only like $30 more and miles ahead of the 1050 ti. Unless your budget CAN NOT budge, get the 570. Or if you can really afford it get the RX 580 its a great value.

I see everyone's going with Radeon, I personally prefer Nvidia as I find it's more customizable with settings (however I haven't used a radeon card in ages), and I don't tend to play games like WoW and such, mostly minecraft and some other odd ball games, and the budget thing, for the most part i'm trying to see if the wife will even consider letting me get a new card and the fact of the 1050 ti being in the $190 range is pushing it a lot.

Not trying to be rude or anything, I will be looking into those cards and comparing, just the money factor is where it lies mostly.

In this case a gtx 1050ti is the best for you (suppose you dont consider old card or 2nd hand)

for new cards, their's basically no competition in this price point...

I've heard AMD launched a 'RX 470D' in China and it has 1792sp, and the price is about the same as a gtx 1050ti. Sad that we cant buy it here.

you can go with gigabyte gtx 1050 ti 4gb (https://goo.gl/xSgh1r). best option for budget build.

I found that one on NCIX and I like that one for the fact it has the 6 pin connector, I just don't like how manufacturers have mail in rebates listed on NCIX website, I tried for a mail in rebate for my Asrock extreme 3 r2.0 (you know, cut off the info off the box and send it in) and never got my mail in rebate, but that's only $10 so I MIGHT be able to get away with that, just gotta hope.

I own that specific 1050ti and I'll be the first one to recommend the 470/570 over it

1050Ti is very poor value. A RX 570 is 50% faster, while being just a bit more expensive.

The RX570 is like 15% more expensive while being >40% faster in most titles. Yeah it's more expensive, but it also has a way higher performance/$ value and it's the latter one that matters the most. AMD has put their foot down firmly in the area between the 1050Ti and the 1060 3GB with the RX470/RX570 by being faster than the 1050Ti and faster or similar to the 1060 3GB but with a bigger frame buffer (4 or 8GB models are available of both the RX470 and the RX570).

tldr get an RX470/RX570. Actually scrap that. Get an RX570. Slightly higher clocks are always nice but it's a much better undervolter making it run less hot at less power draw.  They can be a bit expensive though (recently launched cards always are) so if you need one now an RX470 can also do that undervolting well, just less well as an RX570.

Ye ole' train

I actually already ordered the 1050ti as the wife was alright with that card, with taxes it came to $235 and she was ok with that. not gonna push it for now as I MIGHT have to upgrade the mobo at some point, had an issue with a card reader/USB3.0 hub on my board but hers worked no problem.

i'll see how the 1050ti goes, I do appreciate everyone's input though.

i think the prices will drop when vega comes out , but you could still grab a used

gtx 1060 thats is lightly used ( if u are on a strict budget ) if dont want to wait obviously

check this out

https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01KMVHB6M/ref=sr_1_3_olp?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1493878773&sr=1-3&keywords=gtx+1060&condition=used

like new , and exactly the same price u are gonna pay for a much worse performance . the gtx 1060 ( or rx 580 ) will be a Huge step forward

offers like these are a bang for the buck that u should always consider when having a hard time deciding duo to searching in mid range gpus

this is just my opinion
