minum specs for gaming pc and nas

hey, guys, I am thinking about adding a few hot swappable HDD bays to my PC's five and a quarter inch bay and I was wondering the minimum specs you would need, it will be accessed regularly but just for word docs, photos and movies. I have an i3 6100 and 8gb of 2133mhz ram. would this be enough if you want more information on my PC you can look on my profile?

You don't really need to worry about system specs for storage in this use case - your specs will really only affect your gaming.

I am more worried about speeds but I am guessing that isn't a problem??

You don't need extra power to add a nas fuction, just add a few drives, make a array in storage spaces, share it in file properties, and your good.

if your on gigabit, almost anything can fill up a gigabit connection, it will take about 3-10% of one core on the cpu to copy files at the max speed of gigabit.

I live in NZ - I got this from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/FatCage-MB155SP-B-EZ-Tray-Hot-Swap-Backplane/dp/B00DWHLFMA

They also have a 2 bay one: https://www.amazon.com/DOCK-FatCage-MB153SP-B-6Gbps-Module/dp/B009HIMZ3G

Shipping was fairly reasonable - but just keep in mind if you want to use multi bay adapters you may need to do some "customisation" of your case. In my Corsair 400R i had to hammer all the tabs flat inside that separated the 5.25" bays to hold optical drives etc...

ok cool, thanks, :) I will see what I need to do or my case. I saw on pccg that I could get slim 2 or 4 drive ones, but I will look into that further. is this what I would need??

So you're using 2.5" (laptop / ssd) drives?

The one from IcyDock is cheaper: https://www.amazon.com/Backplane-Mobile-Comparable-Tray-less-Design/dp/B00V5JHOXQ
