Is the Gigabyte Gtx 1070 g1(New) for 230 $ worth Upgrading from an asus R9 290 dcu2. Or wait for Vega.

I have a 144 hz 1080p monitor and two 60 hz 1080p monitors. I either play 1080p @144hz or in triple 1080p@60hz in games which support it. Considering I'm getting the g1 for cheap, is it still worth to wait for Vega?

That's a pretty good deal, and would be good fps/dollar value. My only hesitation is I know Gigabyte has a habit of locking the voltage of their G1 cards, essentially depriving you of the ability to overclock and gain the extra performance that the card is capable of. If that's not an issue for you, I think it would be fine for 1080p gaming. Vega probably won't have anything in that price point for you to consider anyways as it is pitched as their more high-end offering to compete with 1080, etc. But the 580 is in that price point and a good card for 1080p as well if you wanna stick with amd.

I'm not looking at overclocking the card. I'll let GPU boost do it's job.

The 580 really does not perform as well.

Worth it for the driver support alone.

AFAIK Nvidia will give you troubles on surround because you are not running 3x the exact same monitor.

Ohk. On my current setup I have to reduce the refresh rate to 60 on all three monitors for eyefinity setup. Really don't know about Nvidia.
