Wait till 2018 to Upgrade?

MidCitiGamer

Hey Guys,

I just wanted to find out and get some advice,

So i've saved up for the MSI 1080ti Gaming X but i've been reading around and noticing that in 2018 the Volta cards will release and with predictions there should be cards with GDDR6 VRam. Im not a complete enthusiast . Should i wait or should the 1080ti last me a couple of years still???

Thanks

The GTX 1080Ti is basically the best card you can buy at the moment and you're going to be waiting for a long time for Volta.

Like I like to say, if you're going to always wait for the next big thing, you're going to be waiting forever.

Upgrade now.  If you can afford the 1080Ti, you can afford to upgrade when Volta comes out.  Personally though, I often wait 'til Gen 2 because sometimes Gen 1 has some kind os rushed production fatal flaw.  I know this is less true with Graphics Cards compared to consumer electronics though.

I heard rummor from China Volta may be in the rushed state, because of AMD may pick up more of the market than Nvidea would like. I heard third Quarter which tbh if you are happy with your hardware currently not upgrading won't kill you.
The first batch that hits the shelf could of been produced a while ago, so depending on how they do it they could have stiffer thermal paste if they sit at cooler temps for long times
