You asking about safe wearing a balaclava mask?.....look......just go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam and copy your steam apps folder to where you want it, that is where all the games are stored. I do that and i keep it updated so if i have to do an OS install i can just copy back the steam apps folder to steam when i reinstall steam and the games launch again.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

Fastest way to move your Steam games without fuss:

  • Go to Steam -> Settings -> Downloads -> Steam Libraries and create a library where you want to store games
  • Go to your Steam game folders (if you didn't change anything, it's usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steamlibrary)
  • Copy everything over to the new library path
  • Restart Steam

Now if you want to do individual games, that's a little more work, but I can explain that to you if you want.

Not sure, but there's no point in using it considering Steam actually runs happily out of any folder you throw it into.

Simply make a new Steam folder where you want it moved to. For example, X:\Steam, where X:\ is an external HDD.

Then copy or move ONLY the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps folder and Steam.exe to the X:\Steam folder.

When you run Steam.exe, it will automagically download all other necessary DLLs and files for Steam to launch.

Then it should detect the SteamApps folder when you go to install a game, verifying the files instead of downloading them.
