IS THIS POSSIBLE?

Go to solution Solved by Rheinwasser,

I think it would work, i would try it and if it doesnt dont overclock the cpu or get an new psu, i'd recommend an corsair one :-)

but i'm pretty sure it will work :-) (but keep in mind that it will be pretty loud under 90% load)

Hey guys! I have just ordered a 3930k from eBay (I <3 eBay) for £300 or around $480 US. I am gonna grab an Asus X79 board when prices are low. I am building up my system because my younger brother's AMD system sucks and he wants my 2600k.

Anyway, the point is my PSU is a Seasonic non-modular 600w and I wondered if it could handle a 3930k OC to 4.0GHz, XFX GHz Ed. 7970, 2 7200rpm HDDs, my Samsung 840 Pro SSD and an Asus X79 WS board or MSi X79 8D board.

P.S. I didnt OC my GPU, I only run it factory OC

So is this possible? If not, recommend a PSu to suit my needs?

I would go with a 700W just to be safe.

DUDE! that system will eat up around 500-600 max. (and That's with heavy OC)

Hmmmm. That would be enough, no doubt about that.

You might have a problem with fan noise.

Actually the entire system at full load should only draw just a bit over ~400w from the wall.

Seasonic psus aren't that loud.

With a 780 the maximum it can draw is 400W.

Oh, I guess I was overestimating. Haha, how typical...
