So, my main rig just went out on me again, and I'm having trouble deciding whether to bother saving it or just moving on. This thing has been giving me issues off and on since the day I built it almost 3 years ago. Right now its stuck in some kind of BIOS updating loop, which to me sounds like a great excuse to upgrade to the new platform. But before I go and spend all my money I wanted to see what you guys thought, how does my old 9590 stack up against the new Ryzen line?

Here is my current loadout: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Scion_of_the_Ur/saved/wLfgsY

And here is what I'm thinking of swapping in: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Scion_of_the_Ur/saved/xpFnQ7

Any ideas or suggestions would be immensely appreciated.

Wow, you guys are quick on the reply. So the RAM I picked should be fine, right? I heard about the whole Ryzen having issues booting with higher clocked memory thing, which is why I went out of my way to get the 2400. Has anyone had that issue?

It changed a bit and now it's 3000+ for good RAM with Ryzen...

I would get higher clocked ram because when it does work it improves performance quite a bit

So I've been shopping around alot, lookin for them deals ya know, and I think I like this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014JESKRW/ref=olp_product_details?_encoding=UTF8&me= as I've always been partial to Corsair's memory. But I've come to a bit of a roadblock as far as storage goes. Can anyone say for certain what the best M.2 drive on the market is? I'm torn between the Adata SU800, the Crucial MX300, and the Samsung 960 EVO. They all have similar reviews, and each one has people saying "this drive sucks, buy the other one". I like the Crucial's price to capacity ratio, so if anyone can attest to its performance and lifespan, that would be awesome.

Personally, I'll not change that system and I'll keep it for next year or two as it should handle 1080p and 1440p fine as of now but the build that you want to swap is way powerful but wait for a year or two as your current build performs good at 1080p and even 1440p as of now. Get new Ryzen system in 2018 or 2019, as your system should be fine until that time and also Ryzen gets optimization and also gets new processors.

Well, if I can fix this boot issue I probably will just leave it alone. But the main reason I wanted to upgrade is that this setup can't seem to go for more than a few months without some sort of issue popping up. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the CPU/Mobo combo, since most of my trouble-shooting lead there with limited success. Also, since I'm using a 55" 4K TV for my display, I would like to play my games in 4K. As it is now my system can't reliably pull it off, so I'm more or less stuck at 1080p.

Got some good news and some bad news. Good news is when I moved everything into the new case the computer started working again. Bad news is the new case has a dead USB port so I have to exchange it, also the computer is still crashing in the middle of the night, so whatever the main issue is it's still there. With that in mind, I think I'm just gonna go ahead and upgrade. This thing is basically a time bomb and I'm tired of fooling with it.

So, any input about that M.2 I mentioned a couple posts back?
