Better gpu or better cpu?

No.. Ish. Clocks do matter, but with a 950m you won't realize the difference because the GPU will be the bottleneck first.

If it was a quad core 940mx and a duo core 950m, then I'd look into it more but here it's a clear win for the better gpu.

I trying to decide between 2 versions of Acers e5 757g series.

One has an i3 6100u + gtx 950m 2gb ddr5

The other has an i5 6200u + gtx 940mx 2gb gddr5

Everything else is the same. Even the price is the same.

Is much better gpu worth the slower cpu????

Any advice appreciated.

At that price point, I would pick the I5 for more cores ever a slightly better gpu. You will get more performance as your gaming at 1080p, as that is typically more CPU bound. Go I-5.

Both of those are dual core.

True, the only difference i see is the turbo boost.

I would suggest getting this one.  I just bought it and I love it.  From what a Google search pulled up, it's cheaper than what you're looking at.  It's got a quad core i5 and a 960m.  The only thing that's a little annoying is some backlight bleed at the bottom.  It's only noticeable when the screen is totally black though.

It's just an i3 with turbo boost.  Mobile CPU's are different.

I just said neither of them are Kabylake.

For the record, I don't think you should get either.

Oh duh the 6 prefix.

And I would agree, but that is what the OP is deciding between, unless he/she has a budget for an all in one if he/she doesn't want to build.

For $800, you could get a better laptop than either of those.

Edit: Might have the wrong one.

the 950m by a mile. almost everyone in this thread doesn't have a clue wtf they're talking about cept the people who bring up they're ALL DUO CORES. i3 vs i5 in the ULV segment doesn't really matter, but the GPU will.

Also, both those options aren't great. You can tell us where you located and what is the local currency budget and we can see if there are better options.

Im in Bosnia, the problem is that most of those laptop either dont ship to my country have 200 dollars shipping and tax.

It sucks living in this country.......

I thought those 2 laptops were the best in the 500 dollar price range, and i can buy them in my city so there is no shipping cost.

Thanks a lot for the advice. So you think the turbo boost clock of the i5 is not worth loosing the 950m?

Would i even notice a difference between the i3 and i5?

Hmm, i'll post some laptops with quad core options to get your opinion if it's ok with you :-)
