1050 ti doesn't need power?

Hi looking to get a evga 1050ti FTW for a pretty nice price. I'm aware they are 75w cards and are supplied through pcie power but the card has a power connecter. I'm worried I'll need xtra power and I cannot supply it as my psu doesn't have a pcie cable. I could adapt one but perfer not to as its an old dell 400w from the prehistoric ages. Hence why getting a low power card.

Total system draw with the 1050 is around 300w and I think the psu is 430w or 420w. It should be fine and the psu has been solid as a rock for me. I no I should but I don't NEED to so yea..

 

but will the card still run on only the pcie power?

Unless it;s a delta one. They're okay, I guess. Or seasonic. They're probably good.

Either take  @nerdslayer1s advice or get a 1050 ti/1050/rx 460 without that pcie cable

old oem PSU, its solid until it starts a fire.

are you sure of this? I know some of the 750ti had power cables. It would still run without it

Why bother?  its a card that barely needs a fan, why get an over-engineered EVGA shroud? buy the cheapest one you can get

That's quite a bit of an exaggeration IMO

75W is still quite a bit of heat.

imagine saying that the core i7 7700 (Non K) didn't need a fan because of it's 65W TDP

Its Basicly the same price as the other cards and in getting it 130$ NZD cheaper than retail for a new product. The ssc edition is 290 and the FTW is 330(if they were available here) and I'm getting it for 206$. it makes no sense buying a worse card for more. 

 

As as far as I'm aware the added pcie connector is for overvolting for higher ocs. I just can't find anywhere saying it will run without it or not...

If you need a dirty cheap good PSU the EVGA 430w Bronze would do the trick

Personal experience, I have the cheapest 1050 ti (single fan Zotac) and it cools it like a champ.  There are also models that straight up don't have a fan, fully passively cooled

If it won't run without the connector I'll prolly just get somthing a lil more powerful like a 570 or 580 and buy a new psu aswell. Buying a new psu to use a 1050ti defeats the purpose of what I'm hoping to achieve

If I find out I can't I will look for a good deal on somthing without a connector. having owned a 750ti FTW I know they are great binned chips and overclock amazingly. Moderate overvoltage on it and I was getting close to 1600mhz on that thing.

By like 15% slower card but with the certain that it would run on your PSU.

Right, there are 1050ti without the need for cables just the high end models have them for great overclocking. I just wanna figure out if it needs to use that or if it will function as a regular 1050ti without.. I also would love to overclock the snot outa it at some point lol

According to evga the FTW card has 4+1 power phases and 120w tdp where the SSC and lower cards are 3+1 power phases and 75w tdp. One site said it will run but have to downclock for it to be stable.  

 

anyone with a FTW 1050 ti wanna test for me..?
