HI

I have an modified predator g3610

With an i5-2300 2.8/12gb ram/nvidia gtx 1070 and an AMI bios that is p01.a3.

What I wanted to do is to update the bios but I've already check the acer page and there was a couple of bios update and the newest one was p03.a3 for my pc model and all the other programs n my pc tells that but when I downloaded it and ran it there was 3 folders 1 DOS,WIN,ROM and in the read me it say that I should go to win and there was some files and it told me to open bios_win then open another afuwinx64 but the bios_win just instantly closes and says

*Reading File ........ done

FFS checksums .... ok

- ROM file size does not match existing BIOS size*

How can I update my bios and is there any other update or am I doing something wrong cause everything leads me to this update

Why are you trying to update the BIOS?

You should never do this unless you absolutely need to, like when installing an unsupported CPU, or trying to fix boot issues or something.

first, only update your bios if you really need to .

second, that bios you are trying to download isn't working with your cpu.

I was planning to install new cpu but I have no idea if the current version I have does support it and as I've seen comments it needs to

you said you wanted to install a new CPU. which one?  most of the time you won't need to update the bios for that.

You usually want to update the BIOS...while in BIOS, and NOT when in a Windows environment (e.g. before the system loads drivers and Operating System).

There should be a set of tools within BIOS.

Download and extract the folder containing the new BIOS version that you want to update.

Plug the USB flash drive into a USB port on the back of the computer -- preferable USB 2.0, as USB 3.0 (especially on older Intel chipsets) require drivers before they work.

Navigate to the USB, find the BIOS file, and let it update.

The i5-2300 that you have now is a 'Sandy Bridge' CPU.

'Ivy Bridge' CPUs have the 3000 naming scheme (e.g. i5-3570K, or i5-3340).
