Okay,  I am building a new PC and for the most part, money simply does not matter however I'd like to stay around $4000 or maybe a little higher.

I am a technology reviewer and therefore, AMD already sent me the 290X which I plan on incorporating into the new build. OCZ sent over a Vertex 450 SSD, and G Skill gave me 8GB of RAM.

So, I need to decide on the rest of the components as well as whether or not I should get more than the 8GB of G skill RAM, plus should I got AMD or Intel?

Not sure what to get entirely since I'm newer to PC building but I'd like to go big with this build.

Any tips, cool ideas, etc are welcome!  :)

So let me get this straight... You review custom PC tech straight from the company hat makes it, but have no idea how to build one yourself.  How sad...

As for my answer of what you should get: Yes.

No idea how to build one? I've built two PCs in the past, one AMD-based and one Intel-based.

I know HOW to build a PC and I know how components work, therefore, I know how to review them.

However, my knowledge simply is not as vast regarding the various components on the market when compared to the amount of knowledge some of the forum members may have.

So, since I want to build the best PC I can, I'm looking for some advice. Anything wrong with that?

Always good to ask for more advice.

The thing is--always have a rough budget. It doesn't matter if it's $10,000 because some of us will find a way to break whatever limit you thought no one would touch.

Fair enough haha, I've updated the original post with a budget.

How about $4000. That should be enough, I can stretch it a little more than that as well.

Alright. Any specific usage for the system?

Gaming is a big part of it. However, I need some workstation-like components as it will be used for a lot of video editing and various business-level applications.

Do you have to use all the parts you've listed so far?

Also, which kit of g-skill ram did you get?

None are required other than the AMD graphics card, I would like to integrate that.

As far as the ram goes: http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-2400c10d-8gtx

Alright. How's this look? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/23HRU

Remove stock case and h100i fans.

S12A's for front intake and rear exhaust. F12's for h100i. A14 for side intake.

Add the ram to the kit you already have for 16GB.
