Is the palit Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 ti 4GB StormX any good?

Aztec

Hey, I'm looking to buy a gtx 1050ti however I'm on a tight budget. I'm not sure if the palit Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 ti 4GB StormX would be a good choice as it's only powered via PCIE on the motheboard. Would this be a good choice? I'm coming from a 560ti as that died on me a month ago and I'm wanting great performance 1080p gaming. Thanks!

In that price range I'd get a 970 or 470/570

When 570s are on sale stock clearance of 470s should put them level with the 1050Ti in price for a much better card

That has very little bearing on the question :P you can ignore manufacturer and just compare GPUs

Hehehe well brand does have its weight, I would prefer EVGA/Asus over MSi any day for instance... the 1050ti kinda lost its purpose with recent AMD offerings, the 570/580 are better values right now if you want to game, because the 1050ti still benefits from CUDA acceleration.

Also if the RX 400 series drop well on stock clearance this could be an excellent time for OP to save some money.

Second hand GTX 980ti wouldn't be all that bad, could get one for cheaper than the 1070, overclock it and end up with almost a 1080 at stock.

Edit* Had another topic in mind, damn these notifications.

For 60 pounds the rx 560 should be enough for decent E-Sports, an used rx470 though would be ideal.

Meh I never suggest this to people. they aren't that badly priced new especially AMDs offerings. A 470 would be a colossal improvement over his 560ti. Buying used electronics can leave you with egg on your face.

I should have stated this in the post but I can get it for £60 but I'm wondering if I should save up and get the Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 1050Ti for £150

You mean you can actually buy a rx470 for 60 pounds and you actually consider the 1050ti for 150 pounds? That makes no sense, the 470 is a superior card and it is actually going cheaper here.

The manufacturer matters little, 1050Ti @ £60 hard to say no. 1050Ti @ £150 hell no get the RX 470.

Well even so considering it is an entry gaming level card there is no reason not to buy it should he trust the seller, 90 pounds is a lot of money... at least for me :P

for £60 I agreed :) see my above post(s). I was saying 1050Ti at RRP is not worth it but for £60 you wont get a better product (assuming its all legit and the used 1050Ti isn't wrecked)

If you trust the seller and see it demonstrated for you then get the 1050Ti for £60

If you are saving up and buying new then get a new 470/570 (They have the same RRP but 570s aren't on sale right now). you might even get a good clearance deal as stores get right of their 470s

Alright thank you! The seller is selling it due to upgrades and it's on a Ebay bidding page. It's going for £60 and only one person it interested and there's about 10 hours left so I'm going to put a bid in at the last minute haha.

I changed the link and interestingly that site shows market share of the 2. Really sadly eye opening the fact that the 1050Ti has had less time on the market and is a worse card in every way but has double the market share over the 470. Poor AMD really do get ignored even when they best Nvidia :/

If its being posted via ebay then how will you see it demonstrated? He could mail you a dead card for all you know and claim either you broke it or that it was damaged in transit. You won't get your money back.

I would only do this if it was collection only and he/she showed me it working.

Just my 2 cents(/pennies).
