Ok so I'm in the process of buying the parts for my pc but i'm unsure on getting a unused disk drive that will sit there for years.I can get Windows on a USB, My MSI 280x disk should not be used as I'm told its terrible and to download of the AMD website.My Corsair K50 software is downloadable along with my Razer DeathStalker 2013.So i am kind of stuck with what to do and if i should buy one or not.

Thanks in advance.

Unless you need to rip CDs or other media, you probably won't need it. Personally I couldn't live without one.

If you need one on the future, you could bu an extrenal one

Having an external optical drive around is not a bad idea, but the only reason to have on in your computer these days should be if you desire to watch blu-ray movies on your PC. If this is not the case, don't even bother.

You technically don't need one.... it's possible to install windows along with pretty much everything else using other forms of media, such as online downloads, usb memory drives, etc....

Although there are reasons why someone might want one, watching blu-ray's content for example.

@CameronJones

i haven't used an ODD in three years. OS load is from a UBS drive, all appz are

in a digital format from a flash drive or external disk drive, any libraries are on drive,

any usually everything else is online for download. have a USB writer in case of need

but haven't use it in three years.

Only reason I have an optical disc drive is for music CDs. Other than that I have no use for them.
