Need a 1060m laptop.

I just realized my laptop is almost 2 years old. Fucking ancient. Things I need is 14" monitors at least, not massively heavy and most importantly it cannot run super hot/loud.

1000 series GPUs don't have M versions anymore iirc. You'd be getting a full 1050 inside.

That being said, there's lots of good 1050/1050ti options in the sub $900 price range. What's your budget/needs?

edit: wait I'm bad and read 1050m, not 1060m. Go with @Mohenjo's option, that's about as cheap as it'll get.

No such thing as 1060m. It'll come with a 1060. I like my MSI GS73.

It was but considering the form factor and the fact that there's a kabylake refresh and that the components don't throttle down, It's great. Personally I think XPS 15 9560 is the best possible laptop in 2017. 7700k, 97wh battery, gtx 1050, fast ssd and more.. you get all day battery life, great display (1080p or 4k with 100% everything) but it's not 1060.. so yeah

Do you game without headphones? I game with them even on desktop, which is dead silent. Trust me, better loud and cool than quiet and hot. Unless if you want big hefty laptops with 3 inch thickness.. 1060 is gtx 980 m8. You gotta cool it somehow

I wouldn't buy it. I don't know how much money you have to spend and I frankly don't really care, but this laptop is a desktop replacement. It's not mobile and it's a workstation rather than a gaming laptop..

Laptop need to be slim, with max 1060 and 7700hq inside to get any sort of portability.. I really don't know what's the purpose to get such laptop.. Overkill and weak at the same time.

I can live without the portability. I'm not on the move all the time. I should of put, I would of "preferred" it to be light. this is just as heavy as the one I have now.

idk, mine is 3.5kg and I think it's very heavy.. I'm not around a lot as well, but why buy a laptop then? So you can play heavy games in different room from where your desktop is? I just don't see the point.

I was playing games on my laptop up until I got the desktop. Now the only thing I play on a laptop are indie and easy to run games.. I just don't see the point of getting a laptop this overkill if you don't edit on the go or do some serious work.. Other than the fact that you can say you have it. It's a waste of money.. I'd much rather get a maxed out XPS 15 9560 model and call it a day. Far more laptopy laptop and really something you can bring around. Think before you throw 2.6k away.. idk, do what you want.. my opinion doesn't matter here.

My laptop stays at work almost 24/7. And Amazon charges taxes now so add $200 with taxes

You have it at work? Why do you need such laptop for work? what do you do? I'm going right ahead to say you don't need that kind of laptop.. I strongly recommend XPS 15 maxed out (it does come with 4k panel) or even a macbook pro if you really want to spend that much money.

OOOHHH I see.

So you want something strong to breeze through games like nothing while being quiet so nobody can get suspicious why your laptop screams so much. Now I see why you need that kind of laptop.. you cheeky bastard xD

Then say it right from the beginning m8. I want to play games at work without getting too much attention.

Well, get throught reviews of the laptop decided to get and I hope it works for you. Happy gaming.

so the listing is lying?

A number of laptops that claim the 4K UHD 3840x2160 resolution in 15.6" do so in a not-entirely-honest manner by using the PenTile (RG/BW) matrix. The RGB in each pixel is replaced with either only RG or only BW. This means you get all the native-res gaming performance requirements of 4K, and all the risk for content scaling issues of 4K, without the full sharpness of 4K to "make up for it". MSI does this in just about all their 15.6" offerings listing the resolution (17.3" ones such as the GS73VR are safe from it), and it's commonly regarded to be deceptive marketing. See the sidebar on https://www.reddit.com/r/SuggestALaptop/ for more info.

If you're in it for the 4K and the smaller 15.6" size, these use true 4K displays:

- Lenovo Legion Y720: https://www.reddit.com/r/Lenovo/comments/65h4p4/usa_lenovo_legion_y720_amazon_listings_spotted/

- Malibal LX 650HP: http://www.malibal.com/boutique/pc/configurePrd.asp?idProduct=1981 (Clevo P650HP from one of the few resellers that still offer true 4K. Pick the Sharp display for true 4K, not the Samsung. Note: G-Sync only supported on the not-true-4K display -- something I'm hoping will be addressed in the future.)

- Eurocom Sky MX5: http://www.eurocom.com/ec/configure(2,396,0)ec (Clevo P650HS from one of the few resellers that still offer true 4K. Pick the Sharp display for true 4K, not the Samsung. Any return policy before opening?

The display is still high res, about 1500p, but it's not as sharp as real 4k.

Also note those last two are actually both Clevo P650 machines.

Oh I was saying it's a pentile RGBW display, so it's not the same resolution as a true 4K RGB monitor, it'll look blurrier.

@edit1754 gave a great explanation.
