Haven't got a clue what I'm doing when it comes to pic builds.

I am looking to build a workstation for  autoCAD, Revit, and other 3D software. My budget £800.

its going to be for on the side work from my main job so it will not be heavy work for the machine.

i have used PC partpicker and this is wat I have picked. Please can you help and tell me if this would be any good (see attached) thank you.

eventually ram will be upgraded and a m.2 drive added.

Those programs are more CPU dependent than GPU. i would drop the GPU alltogether and get a 7700K if it's poosible with the budget, as the prgrams prefer higher performing cores over the number of cores.

best scenario though would be to go the AMD route with a Ryzen 1700X, but i gotta check if that fit's the budget first

I  would HIGHLY recommend a 6 Core Ryzen build for this. 1600 to be exact.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MwCXNN Just add what you need, you have around a 150$ headroom.

I added two kits of ram, as im not sure what you want, and this is just a base build for you to build on.

System

  • CPU
    Ryzen 7 5800x
  • Motherboard
    Asus ROG Strix B550
  • RAM
    Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 3200MHz 32GB (16x2)
  • GPU
    EVGA Nvidia RTX 2080TI
  • Case
    Fractal Design Define R5
  • Storage
WD Black SN750 500GB NVMe SSD | WD Green 2TB HD | WD Green 3TB
  • PSU
    EVGA Supernova 850W
  • Display(s)
    Asus 1920x1080p 144hz
  • Cooling
    Cooler Master Master Liquid 240
  • Keyboard
    Logitech Pro TKL
  • Mouse
    Logitech G502
  • Sound
    Logitech G733
  • Operating System
    Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit

May want to factor in an external backup drive depending on what you have already, seeing as how it's for projects....external backup and/or offsite backup.

Yea I have plenty on external drives. I just need a pc that can hack the software to get me started.
