Help, new ISP

So today our old glass fibre ISP goes out the door for a new one.

And they did actually up the Mbs judging by my phone's wifi scanner meaning it has activated.

However, everytime I try to log in it tells me there is an authorization problem, meaning that they changed passwords right?

I called their helpdesk and they told me to reset it.

Since my router's reset button didn't work I resorted to plugging the router's power and the glass fibre modem that's connected to it out. So now both devicea don't have power.

I will plug them in again as soon as 20 minutes are up.

In the meantime, does anybody have any idea what's hapenning to my connection?

Could they really have changed the password? They told me on the helpdesk that they can't just reset passwords.

UPDATE: I can now acces the router again, also I have an IP address (obviously)

However, I am still not getting an internet connection at all.

I think it is them though, I called them and they are working on it.

Why not? It has helped me many many times before.

It won't fully reset you router unless your router is different from every other one out there. Also having the router unplugged for 20 minutes won't do any more than 30 seconds.

Let me get this straight. Is this a problem with the WiFi password or is the problem presentr on the ethernet connections aswell=

If your reset button is broken you can try accessing the router through a computer, and reseting it from the router itself. As already stated, unplugging the router probably won't work, but I'm not sure, since I don't knwo every router out there.

Well it isn't exactly broken.

It just doesn't seem to actually reset it.

Usually the reset button is in a narrow hole you have to reach with a pen right? Well mine just has a straight up button on top. So I am not even sure it is the correct button but there is no other hole as far as  I can see on the router.

Also both ethernet and wifi are not working.

Well, my reset button is a not in a hole aswell. However I have to hold it for 30 seconds bofore anything is reset (and update, but that is another story). .

To reset my routers/modems i usually cut the power, press the reset button and hold it for like 10-15 seconds then plug the power back while im still pressing the reset button for another 5/10 seconds... always worked for me.

Qell okay it did reset. This time I could see it working because of the LED's.

However, still no internet. And the authentication problem still occurs, making me think it's the password. I even tried the old password which came with the router.

Again is it the WiFi password or a general problem? If it is the WiFi password, you can just access the router and change it to whatever you want.

I guess a general problem, since on my desktop the connection isn't there.

Also I did say Ethernet AND wifi in an earlier post.

So, the router cant connect to the internet? Or your computer cant connect to the router?

Yes, it displays 'Unidentified network'

What router do you have?

AND:

In cmd, type "ipconfig".

Scroll up to find the default gateway of your current connection (E.g Wireless adapter/Ethernet adapter)

Put the default gateway's ip address into the address bar of your brower and press enter...

Report back with findings. :P

Sitecom 300N x2.

Also I tried the CMD ipconfig before...  But the default gateway is left blank.

Right.

So is your router asking for a password when you open your browser?

My desktop over Ethernet, my mobile phone over wifi

Of course to type this I am using 3G mobile internet.

Ahh 3G.

So your ISP requires a username and password to connect to the internet, right?

I do not know if my ISP itself requires a pass and username to connect. Never heard of that actually.

The default gateway on the router also isn't working.

When you tried the reset button, how long did you hold it down for?
