I'm trying to tweek a build for a guy I know who wants to be able to stream Overwatch at 1080p. He isn't wanting anything fancy, and he wants to keep the cost down low. I've tried looking, and I can't seem to figure out..... Do you need a 16GB kit of RAM, or should 8GB due the job just fine? Plan includes a R5 1600 with aftermarket air cooler, and either a 1060 6GB, RX 480 8GB,or RX 470 8GB (or a 500 series, depending on how they come out).

I would really go for the 16GB. 8GB is quickly becoming not enough and you might as well spent the little extra to not worry about it for a while.

For streaming, I recommend 16GB RAM
Btw you picked the right CPU and GPU.

Ok, I know this would technically fall under a different category, but when it comes to storage for streaming, how much can it make a difference at 1080? Would a nvme m.2 be the best way to go, or should a SATA ssd/hdd be just fine?

Unless you have a good reason, there's no reason to get a NVMe SSD. SATA SSD like 850 EVO is fast enough for your needs.
I never stream before but imo, both HDD and SSD are good for streaming.

Thanks. It's something I wasn't sure about. In my personal rig, I'll be using a couple HDDs, and a SSD. The only reason I'd think about throw in a NVMe at it (like a 960 Evo) is more or less: braging rites, badassery, and the sheer overkill. Besides, just because I can be patient, doesn't mean I like to be.

I stream with 8GB, and that's cutting it close for content creation, it works, but it could reduce performance, if you can, step it up to 16GB.
