Is this a good deal?

Daniel Z.

I saw a 780Ti for 180 canadian pesos. Is this a good deal? And will it perform as well as a 480 4G?

I wouldn't unless you're really wanting a Ti card.

Really? Because the 4G 480 is only like 50-70 less than a used 980Ti classified or G1 gaming

I would rather get a used 980Ti than a 4g or 8g 480

You said 780 Ti... otherwise a 980 Ti would be faster, but a newer card would be better.

I said 780Ti. It was 180, the 980Ti is 300+, the 480 4G is 250+, the 480 8G is 300+

I would save up the money. The 980 Ti or 1070 would be your best bet.

I would look at benchmarks and decide from there. I would consider a 1070 since those dropped in price. Or wait for Vega.

I dont have the use for a 500+ dollar gpu when the most demanding game I play is 1440p SW Battlefront. A 780Ti or 980 would max SW battlefront

LOL you seem like you've already made up your mind before this post even started. If you think the 780Ti is a deal and meets what you need RIGHT NOW, then go ahead

I am thinking of getting a used gpu such as a 780Ti or 980Ti (980 has similar prices to the 980Ti in my area) or getting Ryzen 5.

I totally feel you man. I live in Canada too and these pesos are really depressing.

I've been looking at a new GPU since the 480 came out. I've always been tempted to get the MSI gaming X one as the 8G always goes down below $300, usually $280.

Right now there's a deal on the Asus strix where you get both Doom and Dawn of War 3 when it comes out. But it's still ~$340 + tax so I guess maybe you can sell those games so you end up paying less maybe idk?

I also looked at used 980 and 980Ti cards. My friend is upgrading to a 1080 and offered to sell me a 980 but idk for how much yet and how much I'm willing to pay for a 980 since it's performance is really close to a 480.

I peek at 1070 prices sometimes just incase they actually drop but they never do LOL... So that's pretty much out the window

Maybe the 580/570 would be good? You think you can wait? That's pretty much the only thing I'm waiting for now, at least in my price range. If anything it could drive down the prices of the 480 too.

If you can pay for it, get a 980Ti.

If you don't then either a 780ti (better performance) or a 970 (better driver support)

Maybe a 1060 6G if you can find one cheap

I don't need more than a 480 or 980 or 780Ti to max out my games but I also record with gpu encoding

Have any friends in the US who can order one for you? Even with shipping it will still save you $100usd. Not sure where in Canada you are, but if you can crossover, bring your pc, buy the card here, put it in your pc, head back to Canada, and you won't have to declare anything. Just a geek who went to a LAN party with friends. Err, bad idea, break federal law over $100 bucks. I take the last part back.

I'm about 10 hours from Ottawa (Fall River MA).

Check out this monitor, as I saw you haven't grabbed yours yet. G-sync! 144 refresh, 1440p. Only 24" though. The 27" is $509. Sigh* And it's not curved. The cheapest curved I could find with those specs was fricken $735. With free-syc and 4k instead of g-sync? $319.

Not g-sync though. Tsk Tsk.

Check out this beauty of a curved monitor for 1080p on AMD cards (By the way, just like AMD sent Nvidea ahead when they were neck and neck in the early 2000's, then NVidea destroyed them with the 600 series because AMD licensed them their OpenCl to go along with NVidea's CUDA, apparently the holdup on Vega is OpenCl+ which will double their pixel stream lines, and Free-Sync is going into TV's soon, which means 4k 60hz gaming on 37" screens is going to drop dramatically. I'd guess about $5-10 more than current cost of TV's). Oh, the link to the monitor...http://www.buydig.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=SAMLC27FG70&ref=PLA&omid=103&utm_source=GooglePLA&utm_medium=CSE&utm_item=SAMLC27FG70&CAWELAID=230005120001552151&gclid=CMfUzdaUo9MCFVNqfgodupEHEQ

I love curved monitors.
