Is the AMD Ryzen Master any good?

Howdy there, should I OC the 1700 inside the motherboard bios or use the AMD Ryzen master utility thing?  As i would like to overclock it to 4.00ghz.

Bios is always the best, though if restarting all the time really bugs you I guess you could use Ryzen master :D

Would using bios make it more stable?

Not sure, but it's generally more accurate and whatnot, it's just better in general.

Can't he just set the OC to profile 1 to avoid the constant reboots once he has it stable where he wants? Or do you mean the constant reboots while finding the right variables for his optimized OC? I've never used tools for Intel or AMD, so I'm not sure exactly how they work.

Because you have more options to tweak. It is less intuitive, giving you far more precise control.

Cheers man, appreciate it. I'll try different tests out and post the findings somewhere here later on, Thanks again.

I meant constant reboots of perfecting the OC.

Probably, but for overclocks that you know the CPU can reach, A.R.M would be fine.
As it is I use the tools in Asus AI Suite from my H87M Pro motherboard on my Z97 Sabertooth MKII, and it allowed me to get a stable OC of 4.8GHz without any problems. And it was the same for my P5Q Turbo as well-its OC software got my Xeon X5450 from 3GHz to 4.4GHz safely.

First off you always have more options in the BIOS so i'd tune my system that way and I have done (Crosshair vi R7 1700).

Second while I agree Ryzen master is nice for the novice to overclock in a simple and graphical way the fact that HPET is required makes it suck. Future updates to Ryzen master won't require HPET to be turned on so until then its bios all the way imo.

One of the great things about Bios modding, is:

1: There are so many videos from reputable YouTubers on exactly what to do, visually, step by step. If you have a tablet or smartphone you can just follow along.

2. If it is something a bit trickier (Like oc'ing a locked 6 or 7 series intel on a locked board) you can come places like this and have a decent chance of some success, as long as you listen, and the person/people helping are as cautious as they would be were it their own system that they were going to use.

People can learn basic Bios overclocking that used to take weeks and a few fried chips/boards into a 3 hour learning experience, immediately giving them the skill set to move from a HACK oc'er to an above average novice.

I've been using it to monitor temperatures since I trust it over everything else right now.

However for overclocking I am using the BIOS.

That said, Ryzen Master seems totally fine.

I'm confused. I know all of this and always use the BIOS to OC. Why did you quote me? xD In this case I did mine before any guides existed due to the time it took to get linus' video up (and when it was up it was outdated)

I believe I was agreeing with you and just expounding on what you said.

My room isn't insulated properly and so the cold leeches through the wall.  Previously my 8370 kept me warm like an ugly girl.  Now I fear I will lose the foot...

No, I tried it cause why not? But I ended up stuck in a loop where I would get to desktop and ryzen master would cause my PC to crash trying to apply the OC. The only way to fix it was open in safe mode and uninstall ryzen master. Not to mention OCing in the BIOS doesn't use any system resources. Ryzen master uses more than it should.
