SSD Upgrade? Nice SSDs?

Go to solution Solved by lufihengr,

Samsung 840 EVO 250GB

Should be at least 2x as fast as your current one.

Hi! (:

I want to upgrade a few things in my pc and decided to start with the ssd.. atm i have a no name (ok its verbatim) ssd 128 gigs built in to my system and want to upgrade it for speed and sata safety reasons. it supports smart and there are no errors but im a bit sceptic about this drive. the questions is, would it be worth it the money and would it give me extra realworld performance if i'd upgrade to an 128-256 gb drive and which ones could you recommend? it should be fast durable and cheap cuz i'm student :-)

hope for answers :)

double realtime performance or double benchmark score? :-)

Maybe not quite 2x but a lot faster, real world. Look at the Linus' video, he loves the drive:

Well, I used to have a Kingston SSD as my boot drive and it was around 200 megabytes a second, then moved on to a Samsung 830 and my boot time from logon screen to desktop just about halved :)

Don't have any games or anything so can't vouch for them.

Totally benchmark and not realtime.

Noticeably faster though--a bit.
