I'm looking to buy a Network Interface Card(NIC) because it seems my onboard lan isn't working properly, was getting 35 down and 35 up. changed NIC to the one my brother uses and getting 100+-Mbs down, and 35Mb/s up.

I would prefer a NIC with dual ports,rj45 based.

Been looking around but im not really sure which one too buy.

As everyone else stated, Intel work ver well. They don't seem to have as many driver issues as many other brands.

If you don't mind my asking, but what are your PC specs?

That's very weird. You shoudln't have any issues. I would suggest possibly going into Device manager, and uninstalling your device and drivers for your network device. Restart the PC, then reinstall the drivers. Then check the internet again. Your device shouldn't be old enough to be wearing out or crapping out.

Ebay is the best place to get a new NIC. Here is a dual port card: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Gigabit-Dual-PORT-GIGABIT-ETHERNET-PCIe-NIC-Card-EXPI9402PT-NC360T-/171993184025 and here is a single port card: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-PRO-1000-PT-1GB-PCIe-x1-Gigabit-Server-Ethernet-Adapter-EXPI9400PTBLK-/282412125245

I'm not sure why you want to have a dual port card, as it 95% of the time will never provide any benefit to people.

My native language is C++

Well first of all, LACP and link aggregation are not supported in windows 10. Second, you cannot use LACP to improve your internet speed. Point to point links do not benefit from LACP. LACP is designed for a server to be able to load balance many client connections.

not for internet, mostly for transfer speed in the network. around 25+ clients in the network. also own a server.

need to have access to files constantly aswell as everyone on the network.

what is the drive speed of the server?

it usually easier to get a switch with a 10Gbs SFP+ port and have the server connected to that, and all the clients can use 1Gbs connections.

  • 2 weeks later...

I would recommend one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Intel-Pro-1000-PT-PCI-E-Gigabit-Dual-Port-Network-Server-Adapter-Card-X3959-/112349446334?hash=item1a288c80be:g:kGQAAOSw5cNYk08J I have a few of them and use them everywhere and they have never failed on me yet. They are also very cheap and run on an intel chipset which means that they are highly reliable.
