I am building my first PC, and I'm somewhat of a noob.

My only experience of building a PC is swaping an SSD or a graphics card, as well as a total disassembly of a 10 year old PC.

I made a semi-finished PC part picker list (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hZVBJV) but I'm not sure about ram clearance (the CPU cooler is known for being problematic in the ram clearance regard)

the parts that are marked as purchased aren't actually purchased yet (except the MOBO and case), they're marked as purchased because I'm not paying for them myself.

If someone finds any problem with the part list pls tell me.

Benjamin idel

P.S  I have a budget so pls don't recomand something really expensive.

the budget is about 1200 USD but i can work more and raise it to 1250 or even 1300.

I'ts meant to be a hardcore gaming and light video editing/rendering PC.

Hmm... Look:

"Some Intel Z170 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Kaby Lake-S CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions."

You're gonna have to do a BIOS update in your motherboard to use the 7700k.

The i7 7700k should be paired with either a Z270, H270 or a B270 motherboard. Not Z170, H170 or B170 motherboards (those ones are for i7 6700k, i5 6600k...)

@Benjamin Idel You're right but you'll need to do a BIOS update. PCPartpicker says it all:

I got enough free time and knowledge to do a bios update, software is my stronger side.

You need a skylake CPU for that. Ask someone who has it or get a cheap 6th gen off ebay. Other than that you are out of luck or get a 6700k

I know how to do a bios update. thats not the problem.

and the 7700K is important for the higher core clock speed

the main problem is finding ram to fit under the cpu cooler

You won't able to even enter BIOS to update it with an i7 7700k. Listen to me please

Because the board is already bought it will not boot with i7 7700k!

Unless you bought it recently then it might have a change of having a Kaby Lake BIOS already updated.

Its has been used with a kaby-lake processor, so that is not a problem.

and i have another PC that i bought pre-made from a shop 5 years ago

It will not even POST with the 7700K. You need to buy another Skylake chip first

I mean I guess there's no problem because PCPartPicker didn't say anything about ram clearance.

But based on some answers in some other post you may wanna consider a different cpu cooler:

But a lot of people say the thing alone took 5 hours to install. Is it already bought? I would recommend a Noctua cooler.

You don't need an nvme drive, it is costly and won't improve anything at all

Spend a bit more on GPU, DUKE doesn't seem nice, at least I can't find review of it anywhere. Something like Asus Strix or Gaming X would do better

Also do you really need a GTX 1080 to play at 1080p resolution? Seems overkill
