so i just dropped my laptop (lenovo 510 with the 940mx gpu) its buildt so that the customer can replace the drive and memory so the covers to these have 1 screw in them to make life easy.

so i just dropped it from like 6ft onto a wood floor and the hdd cover smashed around the screw and the drive came out!!!!!!!!!!!! mid boot ie it just lenovo on the screen and the lil loading wheel it crashed amazing i know... shocker.... but anyway i quickly grabbed the drive from the other side of the room put it on "put the cover on" and held the power button to shut it down tryed to reboot after the lenovo loading screen past black screen and i could turn the keyboard lights off (fn key and space to turn on and off) i guess it crashed again did held power button again to shut down gave it a minute so all the power could drain out tried to boot again black screen again i was like fuckkkkk the drives dead its got all my uni work on it..... 5 after about 10seconds windows boots and all files are there no problems.

Check your drive health with something like HDTune. It might seem fine now but it could have been damaged. Also your motherboard could have been damaged.

I dropped my Dell Precision M6500 a few weeks ago from about 5' in a parking lot. It was inside my backpack but that didn't save it. My friend had one a couple years ago that he dropped and he still had his old chassis (its bent too but not as bad) so i swapped all my parts into his.L4FrUvmkP4u6NyGZ-P-FRJyEkHLu3_4DFuggjMaWiwQfjerRCeq3f4wWNxET63965_f2dCc6froVqNjQEbE1FtAOjy96EaQOsrWw3N1JYm2aTDs_wzBa71ghuX4SAO73WD1sygieofue5iSFgQdvt9JqF3kTbpjI1Q0jZaGfC-PCsF9tU--Jp4yOFjlbBhnbcHQyyu328iYKKpNXoJHPrWCH9M-MbFjpDgKUeszAUtTtsxIRVjlqd28Dnb-I9YjWxmlxmGSXMdOtAi9q-__3BnIyrMTSlT6VgskDQnTYnrixTkbacVKGDtmrOneJJ7tesGHxoZ1h7m9MEsGZ8WoU0sZ1CitFgYuUt5AVdl2BuwPmM0PB-V7l4xfCMRnFoj8s4b1kOTwec5pBgWI3sWYtxb6WsZysVuv5YvzFml2jPtdUfzNNFbhOb5dyvNPuyegwu66WtMD5dO2HIkIQ9I2oYESYM_g9TVi4oJF_VinVyfOM_3w_7shAaumaQPE-F_CyM5DK5r9CDhRvqox2YlhaN-iX4XeyzpAyXup6KqCgVyhNLT39xY3MIVyPgGfauN4S2rIICvzImOL2v3m9_tHoI9qorqbKIzfY4tm-wps7WhptVkfsxpce=w1334-h750-no

it's all in the landing. The fact your drive came out is probably is what saved it allowing it to transfer it's energy as moment across the floor then as friction to come to a stop rather than absorbing it all.

Easy there, Linus.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

Pyo.

Nope, look at these people. Well I would jump straight out of the house trough the window, if the PC would not work. :)

My P580 was open and fell from a desk onto the concrete floor below, closing the case on impact. The third fall (thanks to a group member who will not be named) left a line running down the screen. After all of that, the HDD still works. Has since been replaced with a 850 EVO.
