Can I run 1440p?

Go to solution Solved by Oscargot,

You'll be fine running *most* games at 1440p. Maybe not on ultra settings but let's be honest, they don't look that much better. Med-High and you're golden.

Ok. I'll just judge you for buying a "k" sku processor with a B150 chipset motherboard :P

Do you think I could run 1440p, med to high settings, 60 fps? Also just med settings is fine. Also, do you think it's worth it? Second also, are there any 24 to 27 inch 1440p monitors you reccomend. (AAA games and older games like borderlands 2)

Specs:

6700k not overclocked

Gaming g1 gtx 1060 6gb

16 gb DDR4-2400 ram

No ssd

MSI B150

Don't judge me for not overclocking my cpu

but for the actual question, you should be set to go with 1440p@60 if you're happy with medium settings and turning down stuff like AA.

I'm a little short on savings but I will hopefully have a 1440p monitor I can borrow and ill see if i like it. Thanks.

I wouldn't worry about it, the 1060 is a nice watershed card that'll be great for either 1080p or 1440p so whether or not you can get the monitor it's probably a good buy

Pretty sure you can. this rig has an i5 750 OC'd to 3.8 and the GTX 1060 6GB, and it can go 1440p easily. since you're rocking an i7, yours is more likely to hit 60 FPS. I don't think 144Hz gaming it's possible though unless you have a GTX 1070, But with the 1060, High setting is possible, but in some games, you might want to drop it to medium

You should be A-OK with a lot of newer titles. Even my lowly PC will generally play nice and let me do 1440p (and in Fallout 4 I generally get better performance even though my graphics card is slammed).

i can run 1440p on most games yes its a case of how well made the game is for example anythin ubisoft but on most games turn AA AC and that sort of bullshit that makes 0 difference to what u can see and run high settings and you should be good on the AAA titles (my rx480 is pushin 100fps on high in bf1 at 1440p with all the BS turned off)
