How to access desktop from different HDD

Jz1

Hi all, I am formating my friends harddrive and currently I have it hooked to my computer but I am running Windows from my own system. Where do I find the desktop on this master boot harddrive so I can copy the files he needs and then format it, thank you

Unless he kept his files on the desktop it'll be no use to you, but you find it in [drive letter]/users/[name]/desktop

Please quote my post, or put @paddy-stone if you want me to respond to you.

Well, he didn't specified what OS was on that HDD, so I thought I would include it just in case.

Also, I still have XP on my netbook, so I guess me.

Thank you for the replies, I can't seem to get permission to get into his USER, I click his name and it asks for permission so I click yes obviously and then it just loads the green bar but it never really does anything.

That bar usually takes a long time to finish loading.

Hi all and I managed to skip the long time by going onto UBUNTU and doing it from there so I have the file but when I copied it over back to his computer he said he could not see it even though it takes up disk space? How do I fix this. He runs windows 10 now and says the file isnt there but I remember copying it over by adding his harddrive to my computer and copying it.
