Google Sheets and the software for barcode reader.

I recently re-watched the moving V-Logs. It looks like that's how they started but then Linus mentions a "Really good software" solution to use. It would be cool to know what that software is and there experience with it has been like.

I can't speak to the software, but it looks like the symbol 9208 scanners we use at work, and they can be programmed to function like a USB keyboard so it really doesn't matter what software they use.

Wait, I had no idea it's that easy. I do rental stuff and it's a pain to log what gets rented out and what my inventory is. Something like this could really help out :o

Barcode scanners are more or less input devices.

You can connect one to a computer, open up notepad, scan a barcode and magic.

Why have I never thought of this, lol :P I always figured you needed specialty hardware and software for this.

I mean in alot of cases that is how it works, most scanners pre windows 7 were setup as r232 serial connections and you needed the correct software to be able to accept that input, but now any modern scanner should have programming codes for keyboard emulation. If your lucky you can probably even pick a used one up for under $100 on eBay, just make sure it has the proper scan codes first.
