I delidded my 7700k today with the Rockit 88 delidding tool.

I was planning to take some pictures but as I was also pooping myself a little I didnt...

I used Coollabratory's liquid ultra between the ihs and the die.

IC diamond for the cooler and ihs.

I ran the initial test for 30 min on asus realbench before delid and after the delid for 1 hour on the same test.

Long story short here are my temps before vs now.

Almost a 20C difference on the package, very nice. Saw a 21C difference on my 6700k. Glad to see it worked out well for you.

What cooler are you using?  Truthfully, those temps are still high for a delidded chip.

h115i.

I hasten to add they were the peak temps. They generally sat around the 60-65 mark when I was watching.

Also for 5 Ghz I thought they weren't bad...

Not everyone has a wicked custom loop. Look down on us mortals with pity, for we know not what we do.

You're right.  Now that I think of it, they are good.

I keep forgetting that I'm not using a AIO.

My old system has a custom loop, but I'm not going through that hassle for the time being :)

Yeah, the H115i is a great cooler.  I had one on my 7700k test bench.  It takes a while longer then other AIOs before it starts to heat soak.

It's just ambient.  :P

did you find the copper plate to be rather rough? its a shame its not polished down to a mirror finish like my EK waterblock. I wonder how much difference it would make?

Yeah, it wasn't pretty at all.  Machining lines right through the center of it.  Little sucker worked great though.

I shit you not, the 2 fans on that bad boy at full speed are louder than the 25 x 120mm EK Vardar fans in my main rig.  I guess that's how it's able to get away with being such a strong compact solution.

It really is the single best cooling mod that you can do for a huge gain considering how cheep it is.  You'll gain more from it then switching from air to AIO or AIO to full loop.

It's so great that Intel should start shipping the 7700k with a delid tool since they kinda screwed us from the factory with the gap they left between the die and IHS.  :D

I switched the fans to the AF140's (i know not SP) But they are near enough silent and I see no change in performance.

Yeah, here's your $350 chip and here's a tool to throw your warranty straight into the trash lol. wish they'd just put it together right in the first place, then even if you delidded for liquid ultra it would be a minor improvement
