980Ti Vs 1070?

I have been looking to upgrade my Setup. I've been debating between either a 980 Ti or a 1070. The cards i have been looking at are the Asus STRIX 980 Ti with 6GB of vram at 450$. The 1070 is the Asus Strix 1070 OC with 8GB. The one problem with the 980 Ti is that it is open box. Microcenter says that everything is in the box. if you guys could help me that would be really appreciated.

if you can find a 980ti that is significantly less than what the 1070 is going for, get a 980ti. the 980ti and 1070 are very close, but the 980ti can inch ahead if your card is an overclock champ. 

 

but i am inclined to go with a 1070 simply because it's newer.

New 1070 is cheaper so get that. or about $35-50 more than 450 for a GTX 1080.

 

Otherwise, if they were the same price, 980Ti

I'm leery about buying used hardware, so I vote for the 1070.

Go for 1070 without dubts. Performance roughly the same as 980Ti and in same moment 1070 has: newer architecture, better TDP (lower power consumption and less heat).

980Ti beats the 1070 when OCed. However for just $50 dollars more you can have loads more performance and even more if OCed from a GTX 1080

980Ti is a faster card so long as you get an aftermarket one that boosts well. Easily 10-20% faster than an OC'd 1070 and about 10% slower than a 1080. For the same price I'd still say it's a toss-up and I'd lean more toward a new card will a full warranty. If you look around though you can find 980Ti's for around $300 and at that price it's an easy choice.

I think the 980 Ti would be have to be cheaper to consider it. I myself would go for a 980 Ti, but I'd get used ($450 is a bit much...). I could've sworn new 1070s cost less than that too.

 

The 980 Ti depends on the max clock speed to see how fast it is. 1500MHz is like the ideal overclock for it.

 

I'd also agree, maybe consider spending the extra $50 to get a 1080?

Open box 980 Ti for $450 in 2017? That is expensive and totally not worth it. I got mine for just over $350 10 months ago, new.
