Windows says I have 1TB on HDD - but its a 3TB drive?

Hi!

I just set up my new system, and fired it up. Everything works fine, but something is weird with my HDD - Windows says that I only have a bit under 1TB of free space left? Its a completely new 3TB HDD.

Go check Windows partition manager. 

 

Just do Start Menu > Search "partition" > should be the first thing that comes up.

 

I'm assuming that it's only been formatted for 1TB.

You probably didnt allocate all the storage when installing windows. Go to disk managment and expand volume.

Is it possible I installed the HDD wrong? The SATA cables are plugges in correctly, and the drive is connected to the psu..

When I opened up the case while the computer was on, I could hear the drive spinning etc, so I am pretty sure it works properly

No there is nothing wrong with the hardware. Your configuration is wrong.

What does it say in the bios?

What OS are you using and which version?
