NVIDIA GeForce Experience 1.7.1 Removes CPU Restrictions for ShadowPlay

MrPete1985

From the change log:

•    Removes CPU restrictions for ShadowPlay™
•    ShadowPlay™ videos can now be saved with in paths containing non-Latin characters
•    Fixes an error that causes the app to report 0GB of available memory
•    Improved connectivity for NVIDIA GameStream

I'm sure a lot of people will like this, no more hacking to get shadow play working on lower end CPUs.  I did not understand the restriction since it uses the GPU more than the CPU.

I would assume it was just to reduce overall compatibility and performance issues with ShadowPlay. Although compared to something like the CoD: Ghost RAM restriction, Nvidia has taken a step in the right direction.  ;)

God damnit Nvidia, why don't you remove the desktop GPU requirement? I can only wish....

Hopefully they will remove that in the next few releases...

Pretty sure it's because their old cards would perform no better than if you used fraps. Don't their newer cards have a built in video-encoding chip?

some people just dont realize that its a hardware limitation, and only desktop Kepler have that requirement

Tested it. It works. But there are still problems:

No way to record at a resolution of choice, it is locked to the resolution that geforce experience thinks your card can handle

No  recording over 3,8 GB on Windows 7 in manual mode, Shadow mode gives you 10 mins ( windows 8 has no limitations )

You can't have shadowplay record at 30 FPS, 60 only.

So my theory is that they are still testing this for high end systems and all those limitations will be removed when it gets out of BETA. Right now even the i3 "minimum" is a lie, and if you don't have an FX 6300 or at least the weakest intel quad core, you can forget recording that will stay smooth. That is on the highest setting of course, you could do medium and low, but the video quality becomes an issue. When Nvidia fixes all this, capture cards will get a run for their money!!!
