Heatsinks on ram

Do you actually need RAM with heatsinks, or is it just basically for looks?

They serve a very minor purpose, but not enough that it is a required necessity.

if you're in a use case that requires ram heatsinks, you would know you need ram heatsinks.

Kinda the reason why I will never be a fan of big boner ram like the Platinums.

DDR4 doesn't generate enough heat to need it.  ECC sticks don't even have heatspreaders at all and they run under harsher conditions than desktops.

 

You can really laugh your ass off at people who watercool their ram.  Usually though they do it for aesthetics but all I see is wasted money.
