What's the correct way to sit when on a PC for long amounts of time? I used to sit on my bed with a desk that rolled up to my bed, and it killed my back, so I invested in a nice desk and chair. I bought a 90$ racing " style " chair from Homall and its comfortable, but my ass still hurts after sitting in it for more then 2 hours, but why? Obviously you aren't supposed to sit for too long, but I figured 2 hours wouldn't be bad. I do get up and move around, but then it hurts again when sitting back down. The way I sit is usually with my back all the way up against the back of the chair (it has lumbar support) and I sit straight up trying to keep my posture right, but it still hurts. Should I sit on a pillow?

I'm suffering with same problem, checked it out by doctor, turns out change your lifestyle workout more and don't sit for 2 hours straight, maybe do some squats for 5 mins and then get back into it. Also the amount of breaks, depends on you, the more the better.

Yea I do definitely need more activity, I wanna buy a bike soon and ride it, of course in the mean time I should walk more, I just get bored walking alone. All my family is too lazy or fat to walk with me.

I'd suggest getting a desk bike. Working out the muscles will delay the fatigue you're experiencing.

Make sure you have the correct posture and try not to slouch in front if the PC too long. Best distance of you between the PC is 45-60 cm.

Change your seating position. Try sitting differently, or as others have suggested, get up and excersize lol.

It will only cost you a lot of energies. Don't do that. It is recommended to exercise every weekend, drink 8 glass of water every day. And do add I say in my reply to @OnionRings.

Changing seating position is important, sticking to one posture is no longer considered ergonomic. Get up every now and then, and walk around a bit.

Well $90 is quite cheap for a desk chair. Also stay away from those "gaming" chairs because those are just overpriced. Try to see if you can try out a more expensive chair (at someone's work or something) and see if it still hurts after 2 hours.

I work for a company that deals with high-end wheelchairs. There are specialist cushions for people who spend the majority of the day seated in a wheelchair. Designed to prevent pressure sores and alike.

Currently sitting on a £600 wheelchair cushion that i "borrowed" from stock in the office. It's honestly like I'm floating. Can be seated for hours without aching. The office chair itself is a cheapo sub £30 Ikea chair.

It's all about distributing your weight!

If you're going to buy a cushion, but an entry level wheelchair cushion. They are designed to spread the weight and reduce ache. Heck, the main target audience HAVE to spend most of their day sitting so it's proven to work.

You probably need more excersise to increase muscle mass in the ass area. Just spend 15-20mins each day doing a simple workout squats push ups etc.

man this old chestnut, i have awful posture at home but good posture at work. Best way to sit is with ass right in the back of the chair against the backrest, straight back, monitor at eye level. i tend to sit like this at work as i don't get to sit down for more than an hour at a time.

At home though, i tend to switch between slouched in my office chair, cross legged, feet up on desk, or rarely i sit properly. It has ruined my back :) I also ride a motorbike so not a day goes by where it dont feel some kind of discomfort in my lower back.

First world problems eh ?

Sitting for long periods like that is a good way to get a blood clot. My dad, at 40, got clots in his legs due to sitting at a desk for long periods. He  was decently fit also, and no other helath issues. I have a desk job as well and my knees were killin me! Dr. said it was due to sitting, even though i too am pretty fit.

So i set a timer for 30 min, do 5 squats 5 lunges, 20 calf raises. Not only will you build muscle and burn fat, feels great.
