im just wondering what a 4790k is worth? i paid 150$ for 4790k + motherboard. 8gb of ram and a fractal design r5 chassi. was it worth it?

As long as it all works, I would say it is a great deal. Wish I had gotten mine for that amount.

thats a great deal, given that CPU retailed at like £250 brand new, so if u got a mobo, case and RAM included then yeah thats a badass deal.

Yeah, to compare, the 4C/8T Ryzen CPUs will cost starting $170. 4-Core i7s better cost this little or I won't recommend them.

Worth it.

If you OC the 4790k to 4.5GHz it will be almost equal to stock 7700k in performance.

Haswell is still kicking strong for another few years.

 

You basically paid $150 for something that is worth at least $350 and probably $400.
