GPU or CPU

Hello, I posted a question here about a week ago concerning FPS improvement. I asked if you get a better increase with a new GPU or CPU. Currently I have an I7 2600 8GB ram GTX 960 SSC 4Gb. I was thinking on upgrading to an I7 7700, would that improve my FPS enough to justify the cost of around $250, with a motherboard included?( I work at Intel so I get a deal on chips )

You would be better with upgrading the GPU first. Sell the 960 for extra money and try to buy a 1070 or 1080. CPU upgrade later

tbh i don't expect you to get any improvement on fps with a cpu upgrade as the gpu will be bottlenecked far before your cpu will.

Upgrading your GPU would probably give a higher FPS increase vs a CPU upgrade. My only concern would be a CPU bottleneck. Your 2600 would probably be fine with something like a GTX 1070 in less demanding games, but might introduce a bottleneck in more demanding games. I'm not 100% sure though, so get some confirmation about this before making your choice.

i mean the your gpu will be bottle-necking performance of your computer to be clear.

get a rx480 for cheap or r9 on sale, a 7700 wouldn't be that big of a jump.

an i7 7700 is always a deal for 200. if u had to pay the whole retail price of the i7 then i would tell the get a rx480 4gb for $200 and u will get the most improvement on fps. pairing a newer i7 with 960 will not increase frames

mostly just that price point.  If the entire upgrade will cost $200 I really don't see a downside

Would something like a GTX 1060 work a lot better of FPS increase?
