Hi,

Something like a 9 months  ago I bought a PC,

Gtx 1080 FE, i5 6600k, 16 gb ram, Asus Z170-a...

when I started to play games (fps games) I played normally over 80 fps and I noticed some underperforming issues but I don't really did something with that..

I started get worried when I bought bf1-my pc don't run this game like it suppose to and every 15 seconds I get a drop and low fps, bf1 is not the only game, when I play the devision for example my pic have hard time to load the map and the game is unplayable since then I have tried everything updating drivers, moving slots, overclocking, formatting... still no difference, I have no idea what is the problem but I get worried...

I really hope that someone help I already discussed  in a lot of forums and no one could help

its not fair that such expensive pc can't run a game that cheaper pc's can run easily

Thanks for anyone that can help..

im guessing you are running at 4K. anyway im guessing you are running into a CPU choke

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

What the solution to that?

more overclocking or getting a better CPU, aka getting a I7 6700k

BF1 is extremely demanding of the CPU, particularly quad-core CPUs like i5's, but I have a 6600K and BF1 is generally very smooth for me around 60 FPS. I think if you're getting big, noticeable drops under that, there's more going on than just a CPU hitting its expected limits.

For what it's worth I've noticed you can't really be doing much in the background while playing BF1 with an i5. Even just playing a Youtube video can sometimes cause performance to chop a bit for me.

I don't thing that's the case but how can I check?

You can see it in task manager.

You should also check during gaming your cpu and gpu usage to see what is happening

I overclocked it to 4.0 ghz, I saw a lot of people that run games perfectly with the same specs.

anyway I don't have money to spend on 6700k now :(

well have you tried reinstalling the GPU drivers first? use DDU to remove them first

well yeah, bf1 also takes 90+% of my 6700k but I get 150fps on 1440p so it should be playable for you too. What windows are you using?

do you have two monitors? you could play with task manager opened on the second monitor and sorted by cpu usage. Then you can see what uses your cpu during the lag

You could be having a memory leak issue, do you have Virtual Memory enable? and if you do how much is it set to?
