RX 480 Asus Strix

I really don't find the upgrade necessary. That i5 is still good and is enough for RX 480 and the RX 480 can pull really good frame rates, so why not just stick with for some more. Even with editing, the i5 will do okay.

So I Currently Have A Intel i5 4690K Quad Core Code Name Devils Canyon But My Motherboard As Seen Its Final Few Months (CPU Confirmed Working) And Am Wondering Is An Upgrade My Best Bet Looking Into Either FX-9370 8 Core AM3+, Ryzen CPU When I Can Afford Or Just Replacing Current Motherboard If Anyone Else Has Input Or Suggestions Its Greatly Needed. I do play heavy games but only look for about 60-120 FPS (Graphics Card Can Handle It) And Also Looking Into Doing More Recording And Video Editing! Im all ears for your input thank you!

Why would you get a fx series cpu? They are on a different socket than the ryzen series and are bad value too. Either wait for the r5 series ryzen cpus or get a r7 1700 if you can afford it or go intel. Something like a i5 6500 and a h110 motherboard

As i said earlier i was generally wondering if i should keep my quad core i5 and get a new mobo or wait for Ryzen 5

I think you only really upgrade with newer Intel or AMD lineups. That would mean new motherboard, CPU, and RAM (since you have DDR3 and you'll need DDR4). Therefore, if you see yourself changing all three in the near future, i would wait a bit for the upcoming releases. If not, replacing the motherboard is the cost-effective solution.

there is a case to be made if you are already investing money on a new motherboard it might be worth it to upgrade the cpu also. I mean i know i would be tempted to upgrade if I already had to buy a new motherboard.
