Upgrading or throwing away money?

I feel like I need to upgrade my PC with an i5-750 and an RX 470. The GPU is fine, but I'm starting to get concerned about the CPU. I want to upgrade it since it's struggling in CPU intensive games like BeamNG.drive (when I start spawning and crashing multiple vehicles, I need to turn down the settings). Anyways, my budget is around $300 CAD, but I can make it a bit more if I have to. I want mITX and I need AC wifi. Budget is for CPU + motherboard + RAM. I'm okay with going used if it's a good deal. Thanks!!

I can wait, are there any rumors for specs, prices, and release dates?

There will be a 6c/12t version for much less price than the 1700. (probably above $240 and under $300, but nobody knows) which will be called the 1600X at about 4Ghz

Ryzen 5 will also have a 4c/8t version for a very low price, also around 4Ghz, maybe 3.6Ghz. probably below $200 USD, which like all Ryzen CPUs will be unlocked.

getting the 1500X (4c/8t) with a B350 motherboard will not only provide much better performance out of the box due to higher clockspeed and Hyperthreading SMT

plus, the board and CPU can both overclock, so it's also better in that regard.

You've waited so long, just wait a bit more  for the lower end ryzen cpus. Even if you dont buy them, hopefully they will lower prices on the i5's to compete.
