So I'm here once again to ask for you help ! I need to choose between 3 differents laptops. They all have the same price EXCEPT :

OPTION 1 : Has i5 7300HQ + GTX 1050 + 128 SSD + 1TB HDD (https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834154497&_ga=1.13272823.1567962624.1464809210)

OPTION 2 : Has i5 7300HQ + GTX 1050ti + 1TB HDD (https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834154525&_ga=1.13272823.1567962624.1464809210)

OPTION 3 : Has i7 7700HQ + GTX 1050 + 1TB HDD (https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834234473&_ga=1.41609698.1567962624.1464809210)

Which one should i choose if I'm planning to use this laptop for school and for gaming (Game i play will work fine with any of thses graphic cards)?

CPU - R9 5900X | GPU - ASUS KO RTX 3070 | Storage - 500GB Samsung 850 Evo SSD, 8TB Seagate HDD , 4TB Seagate HDD | Ram - 64GB DDR4 | OS - Windows 10 Pro | Case - NZXT S340 black

Damn. To be honest, I would just get the one with the i7. I assume you could always add an m.2 SSD or second SSD right?

OPTION 2 : Has i5 7300HQ + GTX 1050ti + 1TB HDD

Would be my picks

  • Option 1 for super fast SSD perf. if you want quick boot times, and responsive OS.
  • Option 2 for a little more horsepower from the GPU for a few more FPS in games

I assume all the screens are variants of 1080p panels (hopefully IPS)?

Option one seems really nice. I don't think you really need an i7 since you said a 1050 is fine for your game so having an i7 for game won't improve anything much.

Unless you are studying filmography or doing something crazy that need the extra power from 4c/8t i7

7700hq+ a 1050 seems like a good deal plus he can throw in 120gb ssd in the future.

They arent IPS :D I'm too poor for that type of technology but for me not having an IPS display is fine

i use a ROG PG278Q Monitor from Asus and its a TN panel but i find it fine as IPS isnt really a big deal to me so i wouldn't worry about spending more money for an IPS tbh

For a single user at a time a TN for a laptop is fine.

Get the ASUS one and drop in an M.2 SSD later

First off, I would personally leave OPTION 1 out. As far as I'm aware, the GPUS are integrated onto the boards for laptops. That means even if you wanted to, you couldn't upgrade a 1050 to a 1050ti. SSDs can easily be installed into a laptop and a 128 SSD is worth about the the same as the cost between OPTION 1 and 2. Therefore I'd leave OPTION 1 out.

Secondly, I think there isn't a big different between the 1050 and 1050ti. Depending on the game, performance is pretty much the same for both on most games. So I'd pick OPTION 3.

Also, I think MSI Laptops are usually slightly overpriced. I'm a big fan of Asus Laptops because the ones I've had lasted quite a while, don't heat up dramatically, and aren't super loud.

OPTION 3 then OPTION 2. Not OPTION 1.

1050Ti will make a much bigger difference over a 1050 than the i7 does over i5. I only advised for the Asus because better build and thinner

Hm interesting. I mean it really depends on what games are being played. If you're looking games like League of Legends or CSGO, you won't see a huge performance difference. Personally, I'd rather have a higher CPU clock.

There's no doubt that 1050TI>1050

I know 1050TI is better than 1050 :D Only i wasnt sure by how much ;)

Get the 2nd option, the 1050 ti will scale better with overclocking and the extra 300 mhz won't make much of a difference in games. You can help cpu performance by adding another stick of ram for dual channel.
